Leg 1: Seattle to Bend, OR

We loaded up the S4 on Friday afternoon!!

We then headed over to UW to pick up our friend Charlotte to head south out of Seattle. Her husband Mike works about an hour south of the city, so we joined up with him en route and caravaned down to Bend, OR.

In Portland, we picked up Charlotte's college friend Becca.

The drive was a bit longer than we anticipated and involved some rain and fog south of Portland in the mountains. We got in to Charlotte's mom's house about midnight.

As always, it was fun this morning to wake up in the daylight and see where we had landed!

To say that our first stop is totally ruining us for the rest of the trip is an understatement:

Kora loves all the new smells, people and places! Charlotte's mom Patti is getting a rescue dog (schnauser named Shasta) on Monday, so Kora is a good "test dog" for all the nice things that can get chewed on and destroyed!

Our room at the "bed and breakfast" is ridiculous.... great view, sounds of Aspen leaves, which I love, private bathroom, which Lorin loves and king sized bed, which Kora loves.....and breakfast was amazing, with Americanos, eggs over easy and spiral cut ham!!!

Just hanging out prior to going on a hike.... just enjoying the wonderful sun, weather and views....
Mike, Charlotte and Lorin doing the same... Kora is under the table eating honey-baked ham scraps..... (I love my new wide angle lens.... I was sitting right with them at the table and was able to fit everyone in!).

We're off to Todd Lake for a hike then Elk Lake for beers and burgers!
